The 21st Michelmores annual corporate yacht race around Torbay took place on Saturday 3rd September in near perfect sailing conditions.

Eic Group have entered a yacht in this race every year since its inception in 1990

Over 30 yachts, including Sir Francis Chichester's legendary 53' Gipsy Moth IV, competed in the race hosted by Brixham Yacht Club.

Accountants Bishop Fleming won the Blue Riband event taking the Michelmores Cup in 'Prima' ahead of EIC Ltd sailing 'Basic Instinct'.

It was a good day for Basic Instinct sailed by EIC group, which also took the IRC Class and the Line Honours trophy, a new award presented by Brixham Yacht Club to mark the 21st anniversary of the race. Leander Developments sailing 'Nouka' won the Michelmores Bowl.

Race organiser and Senior Partner at Michelmores, Will Michelmore said: "It's hard to believe that a modest sailing event between friends and colleagues back in 1990 is still going strong 21 years later.

"I'd like to thank all the captains and crews for competing in this year's landmark Michelmores Challenge Cup and all those who have competed in the race over the last two decades."

All the yachts competing made a contribution to the UK Sailing Academy (UKSA), the charity dedicated to changing lives through personal development and maritime education. UKSA also entered  Gipsy Moth IV.
